A “Celebration of Life” for Dick Kavanaugh, Saturday Nov. 25


Richard Kevin Kavanaugh (Dick) passed on at the Van Rensselaer Manor on November 2, 2017, after a courageous acceptance of a long illness. He was born in Buffalo on February 23, 1945, and graduated from Bethlehem Central High School, class of 1964. Richard served in the U.S. Army as a communications specialist in Berlin, Germany from 1966 to 1967. He returned home to pursue his career as an electrician, graduating from H.V.C.C. in 1969.

He was an active musician in the local folk music community for over 40 years and spent much time involved at historic Caffè Lena in Saratoga Springs, where he served as board president after the passing of Lena Spencer. He was also a longtime volunteer for The Old Songs Festival. He was a fixture at Honest Weight Food Co-op, was a working member of for many years and a Co-op employee, working in Health and Wellness.

There will be a “Celebration of Life” on Saturday, November 25th from 1 – 5 pm.
