Homegrown Happening Is Coming to Honest Weight!

Home Grown Happening Postcard

Saturday, October 8th from 12-4pm at the Honest Weight Food Co-op

This year, the Co-op’s Homegrown Happening (formerly known as Harvest Festival) will be held in the Honest Weight Food Co-op parking lot at 100 Watervliet Avenue, Albany, on Saturday, October 8 from 12 noon-4 pm, rain or shine.

Local food is the heartbeat of our Co-op.  We’ve spent the last 8 years highlighting local foods, farms, and vendors at our Harvest Festival in Washington Park.  This year we are excited to continue the tradition right in our own backyard, where we invite you to celebrate our local talents and resources at a festive Homegrown Happening!

We have so many incredible local businesses in our region and we here at Honest Weight want to continue the tradition of supporting our fellow local independent businesses, right in our own backyard. Spend October 8 at the Co-op’s Homegrown Happening with local farmers, artisans, restauranteurs, and others to celebrate the many benefits of choosing local. In the spirit of celebrating, the day’s festivities will include face painting and pumpkin painting for the kids. Check here for more information about the event.

If you’re interested in becoming more involved or if you would like to sign up as a Member-Worker and work at the event, please contact Amy Ellis, Community Outreach Coordinator, amy@honestweight.coop. To register to help set up before the event (9am-12noon) or clean up afterward (3pm-6pm), follow this Eventbrite link.

Amy has been a member-owner since August of 2009. In November of 2010, Amy became HWFC’s Outreach Coordinator. Outreach comprises many activities, both on site and out in the community, that fulfill the Co-op’s mission to provide resources and expertise to the community.
